 Ash-Shirk ul-Akbar takes one outside the fold of Islam. The opposite of Tawhid is expressed by the Arabic term Shirk (polytheism) derived from the root Sh-r-k which conveys the notion of “sharing” or “partnerships.” The word Sharik (plural shurakaa) means “partner” or “associate.” It encompasses far more than the more blatant (obvious) forms of idolatry and denial of Allah’s Unity. The term Shirk means associating partners with Allah, and the related term mushrik is applied to someone guilty of such polytheistic association. Some examples of Shirk ad Du’a (invoking or supplicating to a false deity besides Allah are given. False deities have no power, Allah has all powers.

اَعُوْذُ بِاللّٰہِ مِنَ الشَّیْطَانِ الرَّجِیْمِ ۔ بِسْمِ اللّٰہِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ قُلْ اَتَعْبُدُوْنَ مِنْ دُوْنِ اللّٰہِ مَا لَا یَمْلِکُ لَکُمْ ضَرًا وَّلَا نَفْعًا ط وَاللّٰہُ ھُوَ السَّمِیْعُ الْعَلِیْمُ  ( سُوْرَۃُ الْمَآءِدَۃِ ۷۶/۵)

آپ کہہ دیجئے کہ کیا تم اللہ کے سوا ان کی عبادت کرتے ہو جو نہ تمہارے کسی نقصان کے مالک ہیں نہ کسی نفع کے ٗ اللہ تعالیٰ ہی خوب سننے اور پوری طرح جاننے والا ہے

1)   Say( O Mohammed to mankind) How do you worship besides Allah something which has no power either to harm or benefit you”, (Surah Al-Maidah 5/76)

وَلَا تَدْعُ مِنْ دُوْنِ اللّٰہِ مَالَایَنْفَعُکَ وَلَا یَضُرُّکَ ج فَاِنْ فَعَلْتَ فَاِنَّکَ اِذًا مِّنَ الظّٰلِمِیْنَ  سُوْرَۃُ یُوْنُسَ ۱۰۶/ ۱۰

اور اللہ کو چھوڑ کر کسی ایسی چیز کی عبادت مت کرنا جو تجھ کو نہ کوئی نفع پہنچاسکے اور نہ کوئی ضرر پہنچاسکے ٗ پھر اگر ایسا کیا تو تم اس حالت میں ظالموں میں سے ہوجاؤگے

2) And do not invoke besides Allah that which neither benefits you nor harms you, for if you did, then indeed you would be of the wrongdoers.' (Surah Yunus 10/106)

 

وَاِنْ یَّمْسَسْکَ اللّٰہُ بِضُرٍّ فَلَا کَاشِفَ لَہُٓ اِلَّا ھُوَ ط وَاِنْ یَّمْسَسْکَ بِخَیْرٍ فَہُوَ عَلٰی کُلِّ شَیْ ءٍ قَدِیْرٌ  (سُوْرَۃُ الْاَنْعَامِ ۱۷/۶)

اور اگر تجھ کو اللہ کوئی تکلیف پہنچائے تو اس کا دور کرنے والا سوا اللہ تعالیٰ کے اور کوئی نہیں ٗ اور اگر تجھ کو اللہ تعالیٰ کوئی نفع پہنچائے تو وہ ہر چیز پر پوری قدرت رکھتا ہے

3)  And if Allah should touch you with adversity (hardship), there is no remover of it except Him. And if He touches you with good – then He is over all things competent. (Surah Al-Anam 6/17)

قُلْ اَنَدْعُوْا مِنْ دُوْنِ اللّٰہِ مَا لَا یَنْفَعُنَا وَلَا یَضُرُّنَا وَنُرَدُّ عَلٰٓی اَعْقَابِنَا بَعْدَ اِذْ ھَدٰنَا    سُوْرَۃُ الْاَنْعَامِ۷۱/۶) اللّٰہُ

آپ کہہ دیجئے کہ کیا ہم اللہ تعالیٰ کے سوا ایسی چیز کو پکاریں کہ نہ وہ ہم کو نفع پہنچائے اور نہ ہم کو نقصان پہنچائے اور کیا ہم الٹے پھر جائیں اس کے بعد کہ ہم کو اللہ تعالیٰ نے ہدایت کردی ہے

4)  Say, "Shall we invoke instead of Allah that which neither benefits us nor harms us and be turned back on our heels after Allah has guided us?( Surah Al-Anam 6/71)

اَعُوْذُ بِاللّٰہِ مِنَ الشَّیْطَانِ الرَّجِیْمِ ۔ بِسْمِ اللّٰہِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ قُلْ فَمَنْ یَّمْلِکُ لَکُمْ مِّنَ اللّٰہِ شَیْءًا اِنْ اَرَادَبِکُمْ ضَرًّا اَوْ اَرَادَبِکُمْ نَفْعًا ط بَلْ کَانَ اللّٰہُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُوْنَ خَبِیْرًا  ( سُوْرَۃُ الْفَتْحِ ۱۱/۴۸)

آپ فرما دیجئے کہ وہ کون ہے جو اللہ تعالیٰ کے سامنے تمہارے لیے کسی چیز کا اختیار رکھتا ہے ٗ اگر اللہ تعالیٰ تم کو کوئی نقصان پہنچانا چاہے یا کوئی نفع دینا چاہے ٗ بلکہ اللہ تعالیٰ تمہارے اعمال سے خوب واقف ہے

5) Say, "Then who could prevent Allah at all if He intended for you harm or intended for you benefit? (Surah Al-Fath 48/11) 

قُلْ لَّٓا اَمْلِکُ لِنَفْسِیْ ضَرًّا وَّلَا نَفْعًا اِلَّا مَا شَآءَ اللّٰہُ  (سُوْرَۃُ یُوْنُسَ ۴۹/۱۰)

آپ کہہ دیجئے کہ نہیں اختیار رکھتا میں اپنی ذات کے لیے بھی کسی نقصان کا اور نہ فائدے کا مگر وہ جو چاہے اللہ

6)   Say, "I possess not for myself any harm or benefit except what Allah should will.  (10/49)

قُلْ لَّٓا اَمْلِکُ لِنَفْسِیْ نَفْعًا وَّلَا ضَرًّا اِلَّا مَا شَآءَ اللّٰہُ  ( سُوْرَۃُ الْاَعْرَافِ ۱۸۸/۷)

آپ کہہ دیجئے کہ میں اپنی ذات کے لیے تو کسی نفع کا اور کسی نقصان کا اختیار رکھتا ہی نہیں مگر جتنا اللہ تعالیٰ کو منظور ہو

7) Say, "I hold not for myself [the power of] benefit or harm, except what Allah has willed. (Surah Al-Araf 7/188)    

قُلْ اَفَاتَّخَذْتُمْ مِّنْ دُوْنِہٖٓ اَوْلِیَآءَ لَا یَمْلِکُوْنَ لِاَنْفُسِہِمْ نَفْعًا وَّلاَ ضَرًّا  ( سُوْرَۃُ الرَّعْدِ ۱۶/۱۳)

آپ کہہ دیجئے کہ کیا تم پھر بھی اس کے سوا (اللہ کے سوا) اوروں کو حمایتی (کارساز) بنارہے ہو جو خود اپنی جان کے بھی بھلے برے کا اختیار نہیں رکھتے

8) Say, "Have you then taken besides Him allies not possessing [even] for themselves any benefit or any harm?" (Surah Ar-Rad 13/16)

قَالَ ھَلْ یَسْمَعُوْنَکُمْ اِذْ تَدْعُوْنَ لا اَوْیَنْفَعُوْنَکُمْ اَوْ یَضُرُّوْنَ (سُوْرَۃُ الُشُعَرَآءِ ۷۳۔۷۲/۲۶)

آپ (ابراہیم ؑ ) نے کہا کیا وہ تمہاری آ واز سنتے ہیں جب تم ان کو پکارتے ہو ٗ کیا وہ تم کو کوئی نفع پہنچا سکتے ہیں یا تم کو نقصان دے سکتے ہیں

9)   He(Ibrahim) said, "Do they hear you when you supplicate? Or do they benefit you, or do they harm?" (Surah Ash-Shuaraa 26/72-73)

اَعُوْذُ بِاللّٰہِ مِنَ الشَّیْطَانِ الرَّجِیْمِ ۔ بِسْمِ اللّٰہِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ ءَ اَتَّخِذُ مِنْ دُوْنِہٖٓ اٰلِہَۃً اِنْ یُّرِدْنِ الرَّحْمٰنُ بِضُرٍّ لَّا تُغْنِیْ عَنِّیْ شَفَاعَتُہُمْ شَيْئًا وَّلَا یُنْقِذُوْنَ  (سُوْرَۃُ یٰسٓ ۲۳/۳۶)

کیا میں اسے چھوڑ کر ایسوں کو معبود بناؤں کہ اگر اللہ رحمٰن مجھے کوئی نقصان پہنچانا چاہے تو ان کی سفارش مجھے کچھ بھی نفع نہ پہنچاسکے اور نہ وہ مجھے بچا سکیں

10) Should I take other than Him [false] deities [while], if the Most Merciful intends for me some adversity, their intercession will not avail me at all, nor can they save me? (Yasin-36/23)  

 

اَفَلَا یَرَوْنَ اَلَّا یَرْجِعُ اِلَیْہِمْ قَوْلًا لا وَّلَا یَمْلِکُ لَہُمْ ضَرًّا وَّلَا نَفْعًا  (سُوْرَۃُ طٰہٰ ۸۹/۲۰)

کیا یہ گمراہ لوگ یہ بھی نہیں دیکھتے کہ وہ تو ان کی بات کا جواب بھی نہیں دے سکتا اور نہ ان کے کسی برے بھلے کا اختیار رکھتا ہے

11) Did they not see that it could not return to them any speech [i.e., response] and that it did not possess for them any harm or benefit?  (Surah Ta-Ha - 20/89)

قُلِ ادْعُوْا الَّذِیْنَ زَعَمْتُمْ مِّنْ دُوْنِہٖ فَلَا یَمْلِکُوْنَ کَشْفَ الضُّرِّ عَنْکُمْ وَلَا تَحْوِیْلًا  (سُوْرَۃُ بَنِیْٓ اِسْرَآءِیْلَ ۵۶/۱۷)

کہہ دیجئے کہ اللہ کہ سوا جنہیں تم معبود سمجھ رہے ہو انہیں پکارو لیکن نہ تو وہ تم سے کسی تکلیف کو دور کرسکتے ہیں اور نہ بدل سکتے ہیں

12) Say, "Invoke those you have claimed [as gods] besides Him, for they do not possess the [ability for] removal of adversity from you or [for its] transfer [to someone else]."(Al-Israa17/56)

اِنَّمَا ذٰلِکُمُ الشَّیْطٰنُ یُخَوِّفُ اَوْلِیَآءَہُ ص فَلَا تَخَافُوْهُمْ وَخَافُوْنِ اِنْ کُنْتُمْ مُؤْمِنِیْنَ  (سُوْرَۃُ اٰلِ عِمْرٰن ۱۷۵/۳)

یہ خبر دینے والا (وسوسے ڈالنے والا) صرف شیطان ہی ہے جو اپنے دوستوں سے ڈراتا ہے ٗ تم ان کافروں سے نہ ڈرو اور میرا خوف رکھو ٗ اگر تم مومن ہو

13) Allah says “That is only Satan who frightens [you] (to fear his Awliyaa) his supporters. So fear them not, but fear Me, if you are [indeed] believers” (Surah Al-i-Imran 3/175)  

قُلْ اِنِّیْ لَآ اَمْلِکُ لَکُمْ ضَرًّا وَّلَا رَشَدًا  (سُوْرَۃُ الْجِنِّ۲۱/۷۲)

کہہ دیجئے کہ مجھے تمہارے کسی نقصان اور ہدایت دینے کا اختیار نہیں

14)  Say, "Indeed, I do not possess for you [the power of] harm or right direction." (72/21)

 

وَاتَّخَذُوْا مِنْ دُوْنِہٖٓ اٰلِہَۃً لَّا یَخْلُقُوْنَ شَيْئًا وَّھُمْ  یُخْلَقُوْنَ وَلَا یَمْلِکُوْنَ لِاَنْفُسِہِمْ ضَرًّا وَّلَا نَفْعًا وَّلَا یَمْلِکُوْنَ مَوْتًا وَّلَا حَیٰوۃً وَّلَا نُشُوْرًا  (۳/۲۵سُوْرَۃُ اَلْفُرْقَان)

ان لوگوں نے اللہ کے سوا جنہیں اپنے معبود ٹھہرا رکھے ہیں وہ کسی چیز کو پیدا نہیں کرسکتے وہ خود پیدا کئے گئے ہیں یہ تو اپنی جان کے نقصان نفع کا بھی اختیار نہیں رکھتے اور نہ مو ت و حیات کے اور نہ دوبارہ جی اٹھنے کے وہ مالک ہیں

15)   But they have taken besides Him gods which create nothing, while they are created, and possess not for themselves any harm or benefit and possess not [power to cause] death or life or resurrection.  (Surah Al-Furqan 25/3)

16)   Narrated Abdullah (RA)The Prophet () said one statement and I said another. The Prophet said "Whoever dies while still invoking anything other than Allah as a rival to Allah, will enter Hell (Fire)." And I said, "Whoever dies without invoking anything as a rival to Allah, will enter Paradise."(Bukhari 6/24)
